Alec Segaert conquista Novi Ligure al Giro d’Italia 2026

Alec Segaert wins the stage in Novi Ligure at the 2026 Giro d’Italia

With a decisive attack in the final kilometres, Alec Segaert claimed victory in Stage 12 of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, from Imperia to Novi Ligure, securing Bahrain Victorious’ first stage win in this edition of the Corsa Rosa.

On the iconic roads of Italian cycling, in the land of the great champions Fausto Coppi and Costante Girardengo, the Belgian rider perfectly capitalised on a fast and frantic finish, surprising the peloton with a powerful and precise move just a few kilometres from the line. An unstoppable surge allowed him to hold off the chasing pack and raise his arms in victory alone.

The 175 km stage, starting from Imperia and heading towards Piedmont, presented a route open to various tactical interpretations. After the climbs of Colle Giovo and Bric Berton, the finish seemed destined for a small sprint, but Segaert seized the perfect moment, making the most of his explosive power and his qualities as a time trialist.

This is a significant victory for Bahrain Victorious, coming as Afonso Eulálio continues to defend the Maglia Rosa and the Maglia Bianca, confirming the team’s strength and ambition in this edition of the Giro.
Alec Segaert’s victory perfectly embodies the racing spirit shared by Bahrain Victorious and Alé Cycling: vision, courage and the ability to make a difference at the decisive moment.

“The Giro is a special race for me and I really wanted to win a stage here. When the plan works and you’re rewarded with such an important victory, that’s the beauty of cycling,” said Alec Segaert after the finish.
